One of the outstanding strengths of Howard Convent Sr. Sec. School lies in its ability to keep pace with the changing times. Today, as the world reshapes itself at a rather accelerated pace, we offer our students a curriculum that is dynamic, value-based, holistic and inclusive in manner. Children are equipped with knowledge, skills, values, and competencies to navigate the future with confidence and become valuable contributors to society. For our education to become more purposeful, we adopt the ‘learning to learn’ approach which inspires students to embrace learning as a life-long process. Children’s all-round personality development is sought to be achieved through an array of activities stimulating their cerebral, emotional, physical and social well-being. We celebrate the unique individuality of each child by honing in what he or she can do rather than cannot. Furthermore, the close faculty-pupils bond, attributable to the low student-teacher ratio fosters feelings of security, safety and confidence amongst our young learners. Our Endeavour is to produce enlightened young individuals who while being successful members of the global community take pride in their Indian identity. Our curriculum reinforces our belief in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and the importance of human inter-connectedness, along with cultural sensitivity. In a society driven by excessive consumerism and individualism, we instill compassion and the spirit of selfless service amongst our students. Here, it is pertinent to partake important lessons on human equality and oneness from the drastic Coronavirus 2019 global pandemic. Cutting across boundaries – geographical and human-made, it has been a real social equalizer and, profoundly, proved to us that only together are we at our strongest, most alive and most human. Dear Parents, firstly, I express my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you for your valuable support and faith in us. As we further our shared striving towards fostering positive abilities in our children, I urge you to place trust in your child and not become over-indulging or over-protecting. Your trust in your child will make him or her responsible and resilient. Needless to say, these are some of the very attributes for these leaders of tomorrow. Dear students, although technology has become an integral part of our lives, we need to use it with ample caution. Among other necessary measures, it is extremely important that you seek information and news from credible sources. Refrain from following fake news as it has the ugly potential of making you communal and even aggressive. Your safety in the cyber world, as much as in the physical world, is a paramount concern to both, your parents and us. I, therefore, urge you to tread the digital world safely, without falling prey to harmful sites or cyber-bullying and online abuse. Worryingly, as many pieces of research point out, excessive indulgence in social media and online gaming deplete your EQ. So, remember to spend time with your family and friends. It is important to balance ‘high tech’ with ‘high touch’. As a school, we are committed to empower our students and help them actualize their full potential. For everyone at Howard Convent Sr. Sec. School dedicated to the cause of education, the golden words of Mahatma Gandhi remain a true source of inspiration – “Education means all-round drawing out of the best in child and man-body, mind, and spirit.”
